So here comes yet again another installment into the Friday the 13th collection. This time a remake of the first film which came out in 1980. One may argue that they should just let Jason rest in peace however I think that this release has added some sweet juice to the collection.
The movie starts off almost 30 years ago with a girl being chased down by Jason Voorhees mother Pamela. You see her blaming the counselors for Jason's death meanwhile little Jason sits watching from a tree. Pamela goes to kill the girl but ends up getting her head chopped off by her.
The movie then skips to the present day where we find the typical storyline of a group of teenagers setting up camp. The teens are looking for a batch of weed growing somewhere in Crystal Lake. They all end up seperating at different times, going different places, some to have sex, some to piss and others to be adventurous. A couple of the teens stumble across Mrs. Voorhees necklace that has a picture of herself in it which happens to have a striking resemblance to one of the teens camping (Whitney). One by one they get killed with the last being Whitney. You see Jason lifting up a machete then the scene cuts to 6 weeks later.
In the next scene we see Whitney's brother (Clay) looking for his missing sister. He runs into a bunch of teens at a local convenience store which again leads to new blood for machete ready Jason. Clay gets told by a local police officer that his sister and her friends would no longer be in the area. Throughtout the rest of the movie Jason picks them off one by one.
You get your fair share of boobs, booze and sex in this flick. This time around in my opinion the killings are done in a more clever fashion, not all are your typical slice of the throat and machete throwing target practice. This makes for a great addition to any Friday the 13th collection. I would have to say that this one is my favorite of them all.
It is said that there will be another sequel in the works to be released next year. They apparently are awaiting the script and the green light. Derek Mears also from The Hills Have Eyes 2) is rumored to come back as Jason. This would make for a great finale if you think about it, the 13th film in the series coming out 30 years after the first. Ahhhhhh brings me back to when I was around 13 years old saying "imagine if they kept making sequels up until 13" Who knew?
